CABM Atrium is Named in Honor of Director Dr. Aaron Shatkin

The Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine's south atrium was named in honor of founding director and researcher Dr. Aaron Shatkin in recognition of his two and a half decades of research leadership to the center. The ceremony was part of a two-day event commemorating 25 years of research at CABM and the center’s 25th anniversary symposium.

The commemorative plaque is inscribed as follows:

Scientist. Scholar. Educator. Leader. Mentor. Colleague.
And Founding Director of the
This space is the hub of social and scientific interactions at CABM
and embodies the ethos of our community envisioned and fostered by Aaron.
His leadership has created a collegial and interactive environment
that enhances the pursuit of individual research excellence
and the joy of scientific discovery.

In addition, to recognize Dr. Shatkin's scientific achievements and the excellence in science and education that he has fostered, an endowed annual lectureship has been established in his name, with plans to hold the first lecture in Spring 2012.
